**The Film**
Filmed in spectacular high definition, The Privateer Lynx transports you into the exciting seafaring world of days gone by while connecting directly with today’s youth, expanding their knowledge about the maritime history of our nation and the environmental perils facing our planet.
**The Boat**
The Privateer Lynx is a powerful 122 foot Top Sail Schooner that looks like an apparition from the past. In reality, she is a modern sailing ship inspired by an earlier Lynx built in 1812, that served as a war machine in her day. The ship’s story is that of a young America, fighting to free herself from English domination. With virtually no navy of its own but plenty of Yankee ingenuity, Americans used “Privateers” like the Lynx to fight the empire that ruled the seas. Today’s Lynx honors that tradition.
**The Crew**
You’ll meet Captain Craig Chipman, an experienced and passionate skipper and teacher, First Mate Michael Kellick, a committed master and poet, “Doc” Cummings, a first-time sailor working as the ship’s cook, the female engineer Victoria Pullin, and the other crew who love the Lynx and work hard together as a team.
**The Adventure**
The Lynx takes us on an unforgettable adventure on the Pacific, witnessing natural wonders, battling treacherous weather and living the unique lives of sailors. During our journey, the Lynx stops to fulfill one of her proudest missions, when the crew brings aboard a class of inner city school children and gives them the ultimate field trip.
**Educational Outreach**
The Lynx preserves the art and culture of sailing on a grand scale. The young people who sail her learn a sustainable way of life and travel. At sea, they gain profound insights into the history of America's struggle to preserve it's independence and mankind’s role on our planet.
